Reinforcing the Transportation Space

Transportation is often identified as a cost intensive arena where a company's margins can be greatly squeezed, when not managed effectively. Moreover, it has a direct bearing on the end customer's experience as the delivery times and other lead times are impacted by the management of transportation activities. Such strategic significance is acknowledged by the Transportation Management Systems  (TMS) which aim at reducing the transportation cost by optimum carrier selection and efficient route planning.

Recently, Infosys partnered with a US Networking Major to streamline their supply chain operations with a special emphasis on transportation management. This drive targeted at revamping their logistics competence to attain significant cost savings by route optimization across their global network.

The logistics solution coupled Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) with Oracle E-Business suite. OTM, is a renowned TMS, recognised for its efficient transportation planning and execution calibre. Third party rating engines -Kewill and Czarlite provided the rating backbone to the solution. The robust solution aims at consolidating shipments, selecting the cost optimised carrier under the service level constraints and managing the 3PL Operations .It also provides reporting capabilities to further rationalise the operating activities.
