Using the power of BW Accelerator with BO Explorer

BO Explorer(prior name Polestar) is marketed by SAP more as an intiutive search tool and can be a google in the world of SAP BW.

It is well-known that most BI users have reported satisfactory performance with queries enabled on BWA and the BO explorer when combined with BWA promises super fast answers to search.

Coming to its integration with the BWA , we now have two versions of the BO Explorer . One is the accelerated version which uses BWA and the other is the non-accelerated version(Universe flavour) with BO Ex and suitable for less that 4 Million records in a cube.Like before the BWA indexes are maintained in the external BWA appliance and the accelerated version directly searches and explores the indexed infocubes.

Platform requirements include SAP Netweaver 7.0 Eh P1 SP2 or higher and BWA must have revision 50 or higher.

The BO Explorer supports many SAP BO Information spaces and a single information space maps to either an indexed infocube in BWA or a specified query on a universe.

What is interesting to see is also the cloud offering on the BO Explorer where data (in excel sheets) can be uploaded to the cloud and for a particular department or line of business , users can do a google like search on the cloud data .
